Southwell Town Council has been criticised for not yet agreeing how much money it will provide for flood defences in the town. Newark and Sherwood District Council has committed £220,000. About 100 people attended the very interesting and enlightening talk which generated many questions and concerns. Jillian stressed Josh’s project is purely about using land at Brackenhurst at the moment and that engineered mitigation is still being planned by Nottinghamshire County Council with Government Grant-in-Aid funding. Southwell could gain £350,000 for flood work

A grant of £350,000 could be given to Southwell over the next three years towards work to reduce the risk of flooding.
