Recently Southwell Flood forum has said goodbye to 3 founding core members.

Rob Jordan was our first Joint Chair and worked tirelessly to steer the Forum and help lobby authorities to get mitigation measures designed and funded.

John Cook similarly worked alongside Rob and helped raise funds for the community contribution to those measures.

Dave Sheard worked closely with Nottinghamshire County Council on emergency planning and the Road Closure Scheme. He steered its implementation and directed it ‘on the ground’ when it was deployed. His experience as a Fire Officer and calm attitude plus sense of humour was invaluable.

Even while they were dealing with the personal impact of flooding in 2013, they gave the Forum their time and energy for which we on behalf of Southwell are very grateful.

Our planned ‘Get Together’, on Saturday 7th September has been postponed. We intend to review and re-organise the event in the coming months. We’d appreciate your opinion on such an event through our survey – https://bit.ly/SFFsurvey

We welcome Nic Atkin to the core team to support admin tasks.

The Forum continues to press for measures to reduce flood risk, plus maintaining resilience and preparedness in the community. To subscribe to our newsletter or join our friendly team, please contact us – info@southwellfloodforum.org.uk
