Nottinghamshire County Council is warning residents to ‘be prepared’ a year on since the summer flash floods hit Southwell. On 12 March 2012, Environment Agency officers attended an incident on the Potwell Dyke watercourse in Southwell, Nottinghamshire. The incident was reported by Severn Trent Water who said that water pollution had discharged into the watercourse from their combined sewer outfall.

Southwell residents are being urged to sign up to help with the largest system of emergency road closures in Europe, which could come into force if it floods again.
