A resident has thanked workmen who have been working to alleviate flooding problems in Southwell.
Mr Eddie Gray, of Leeway Road, said workmen from NMCNomenca, working on behalf of Severn Trent on a £¼m scheme to help alleviate the flooding by improving the capacity of sewers and drains deserved a hearty thank you for their hard work and conscientiousness.Mr Gray said: “I just wanted to say thank you to them because every time I have asked them for something, like to leave someone’s driveway open, they have helped us out.“It has helped the people who live here to get on with their daily lives.“It’s not been an easy job for them to do here. They have been finding problem after problem because there aren’t any drawings or anything to show them what is going on under the road.”

Work on the scheme, which has involved digging up large sections of the road, has been under way for months.

It is set to be completed in the next week.

Mr Gray said the improvements, which he had campaigned for, would make a big difference to residents.
