The Garden party at Westhorpe Lodge was another success for the Southwell Flood Fund.

The weather was perfect and the garden stunning – a typically English Summer Garden Party. Our enormous thanks to Jon and Margaret Holmes for welcoming us into their garden.

Our sincere thanks also to

  • Margaret and her team of bakers for the delicious cakes and scones for tea
  • the Methodist Church for the loan of the large tea pots
  • Easthorpe Common Lands Trust for the loan of cups and saucers
  • the Lions for supporting the Tombola
  • all the donors of prizes
  • everyone who brought along plants, books, cakes, preserves, vegetables to sell
  • those who provided traditional garden games to play
  • … ..and very importantly, everyone who helped and attended.

So much was given by so many to help raise £1000 towards the Fund.
We will soon be able to announce the first significant milestone on the road to our £125,000 target.
It was also an excellent opportunity for the Emergency Planning Team to display the Road Closure scheme and their new road signs to be deployed in the event of future flooding.
