The impact of climate change

The recent severe storms and floods that affected many parts of the UK demonstrated the increasing impacts of climate change on our local environment. 


This event features presentations from: –

  • Environment Agency – Paul Lockhart will give an overview of the changing nature of the threat, business continuity planning, and the benefits to business of building in flood resilience to business infrastructure. 
  • StormSaver – Michael and Lisa Farnsworth who established Stormsaver in 2003, which has since created rainwater harvesting systems for more than 1500 commercial buildings and homes in the UK. 
  • Flood Protection Solutions Ltd – Simon Crowther was inspired to start his own business when his family home flooded. Flood Protection Solutions, based in Colwick, are the distributors of Water-Gate barriers a unique portable, reusable barrier system which can be rolled out in minutes and uses the weight of the flood water to create a barrier. Simon has since sold thousands of metres of the product to clients across the UK including the Environment Agency and Emergency Services.

This event is organised by CleanTech Business Ltd  who since 2010 have organised over 45 separate presentations showcasing the work of local companies developing “low carbon” technologies

This event is free to attend includes refreshments a networking opportunity. The venue is served by a number of bus routes and has free on site car parking.
