In February 2024, Southwell Flood Forum submitted evidence to the House of Commons Public Accounts Committee inquiry on ‘Government Resilience: Extreme Weather’.  The Committee’s inquiry report was published in April along with an accompanying press release. These offer some encouraging reading.  Amongst other sensible conclusions, the report highlights the importance of statutory responders having links with community groups and the voluntary sector to enhance local resilience.

Our submission is cited on page 18 of the report and can be found here

National Flood Forum also submitted evidence.

These documents have been shared with

  • Mike Manley (NSDC Emergency Planning)

We have requested that the report is brought to the attention of appropriate partners within the Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Local Resilience Forum, for the benefit of their preparations for future flood emergencies in Nottinghamshire.
