Two community engagement drop-in events are being held in Southwell on Wednesday 25th September and Saturday 5th October 2013.

These sessions are intended to provide residents and those with local businesses in the town with an opportunity to discuss the flooding incidents that occurred in July with representatives from the various public agencies involved. Representatives from various public agencies will be in attendance at the events including: Nottingham County Council, Newark and Sherwood District Council, The Environment Agency, and Severn Trent. They will have stands providing information and updates on what action has and is being taken with regard to the flooding issues. An independent flood advisor will also be there to offer information on resilience and insurance.

These informal sessions will be a chance also for residents to pass on information relating to their own specific experiences during the flooding incident and ask questions to agencies about their concerns. They are not formal public meetings as such and people can arrive at any time whilst the events are running to speak to representatives from the agencies present. However we are expecting a large turnout and would ask people to be patient if there are queues to speak to certain representatives.

The events are open as follows:

  • Wednesday 25th September 2013 between 7pm to 9pm at Southwell Minster School
  • Saturday 5th October 2013 between 11am to 3 pm Southwell Leisure Centre

A closed formal meeting will also be held between representatives of the various public agencies concerned and the Southwell Flood forum to discuss an action plan for the future and the outcome of this meeting will be circulated after the event.
