Josh Wells has just completed his PhD on flooding in Southwell at Nottingham Trent University and as part of his research, implemented many natural flood management interventions on Brackenhurst’s upland catchment land.

He was subsequently employed by Trent Rivers Trust in the FRAMES project and has implemented many more NFM interventions in the upland catchment areas around Southwell.

His paper on Barriers to the uptake and implementation of natural flood management: A social -ecological analysis has been published Wells_et_al-2019-Journal_of_Flood_Risk_Management

This paper explains the challenges of implementing NFM with the differing demands and requirements of the stakeholders.

Josh and his supervisor Dr Jillian Labadz have been invited to present the research and evidence on NFM in many countries and we are proud and grateful that Southwell has benefitted from this valuable work.
