As part of our connection with the University of Nottingham Community Participation Workshops run by Shaun Maskrey, some of the Masters students will be visiting Southwell on Saturday 28th March. This is a visit organised by Professor Colin Thorne, who is keen on the students exploring a town that has experienced recent flooding, and talking to local residents who both experienced the events in 2013, and have taken an active role in managing flood risk since.
As part of this visit the students are doing a walk around Southwell (see route below) and finishing up at Southwell Library for a debrief from 1pm- 2pm.
During this debrief Colin and Shaun would like to invite members of Southwell Flood Forum to meet the students, and help to answer any questions they have about what they have seen and heard during their ‘tour’ and especially relating to the Flood Forum itself (i.e. what it is, what it does, who is involved, and what motivates people to get involved).
It would also give you the opportunity to ask questions yourselves, especially to Professor Thorne, who is an expert in flood risk and has worked extensively on flooding issues both in the UK and internationally.
If you are interested in getting involved please let Shaun know – 0115 9515383 07887 398337 Shaun.Maskrey@nottingham.ac.uk
