This project is awaiting approval alongside the Nottinghamshire County Council’s engineered mitigation flood risk management measures.

It will include installing Natural Flood Management (NFM) measures and building community resilience under the FRAMES (Flood Resilience Areas by Multi-Layer Safety) approach which brings together regional authorities and knowledge institutions which are working on similar projects, so that they can learn from each other and co-operate internationally.

The conference theme was ‘Can the catchment-based approach (CaBa) bring community flood action and natural flood risk management together?”  Agenda here

We gave a 15 minute presentation in the afternoon workshops on “Resilient communities – Bringing communities together for resilient areas” on how the Southwell Flood Forum had come together as a community action group – a concept which is apparently not known in much of the European North Sea Region according to Dr Steven Krol, Project Leader of EU Interreg FRAMES from Netherlands.
